My history

From childhood, I have been strongly drawn to the inner pleasure of beholding the beauty of living creatures. I can still see my room inhabited by guests of so many different species, trying to greet each other and to get along together. The frog, the newt, the salamander, the spider or the coleopterous have been for me such ideal companions as would have been a cat or a dog for another girl. Even today I am amazed at the familiarity that such apparently dull animals can awaken.

 

             
The external world was always full of interesting novelties: drowsy cicadas taking a summer sunbath, an ant’s nest with their miniscule little bodies, a spider wrapping up an insect, the playful flight and magic of butterflies and the ladybirds everywhere walking this way and that, like some recently painted walking toy.

 

         

I learned to concentrate, astonished by this abundance of life. I used to spend hours contemplating the intimate and silent life of the minuscule creatures that were all around me. Such discoveries filled me with great joy. My whole life has been covered inside out with animals. My first childhood memories are wrapped in a multiplicity of experiences and adventures with an endless number of creatures, wild and domestic.
